I chose a quote from Julia in 1984. “If you kept the small rules, you could break the big ones.” To me, this quote symbolizes Julia in the reading because she keeps up a perfect image of obedience and loyalty to the Party. However, in obeying all of the unimportant rules, it gives her a cover that allows her to live the way she wants underneath.
